
As a business owner or blogger, not being scared of numbers is key to running a successful business. Reviewing your finances on a routine basis helps you make better decisions about how to price your offering and when to spend. Similarly, taking time to get familiar with Google Analytics is just as important. You can determine if you are reaching your target audience, how they are finding you and how they are using your website.
Google Analytics is a free tool, but if you don’t have it installed on your website, it won’t be able to provide you with any data. In today’s video tutorial, I walk you through:
- Creating a Google Analytics account.
- Installing Google Analytics on your WordPress or Squarespace site.
The first few minutes of the tutorial walk you through the Google Analytics set up process. You will learn how to create a tracking code for your website so you can add that code to your website.
Starting at 3:40, I walk you through installing a tracking code on a WordPress website. Before you can install the tracking code, you must install the MonsterInsights Plugin. Learn how to install a WordPress plugin.
If you are a Squarespace user, you can skip ahead to 5:55 to learn how to install your tracking code.
Once your tracking code is installed on your website, Google will begin to gather data right away. You will be amazed at all you can learn from Google Analytics, including what social media platforms are sending your website the most traffic!
