I first met WordPress.org in the fall of 2011. I’m not gonna lie – it wasn’t love at first site. (No pun intended!)

Just like many of you, when I first started using WP, it seemed complicated and confusing. But with a little patience and a lot of Googling, I started to change my tune.

In spring of 2012, I created the first iteration of my lifestyle blog, Twin Stripe, and developed a small site for a local non-profit.

Since then, I’ve been hooked on WordPress and I wanted to share a few of my favorite reasons with you!

5 Reason to Love WordPress:

It’s Free

WordPress is open source software, meaning that you do not need a license to use it. Because it is open source, it is constantly updated and made better.

You do have to pay for a domain name and hosting, but that gives you a lot of control over your website. If your host can’t support your website, you can move to a different hosting company.

It’s Flexible

WordPress can be used for blogging, eCommerce, service-based businesses, online courses, membership sites and more. Your site can easily evolve and change with your business.

WordPress is great for businesses large and small. The Dallas Mavericks, The New Yorker, People Style Watch and Beyoncé are just a few of the larger companies/brands that use WP.

It’s Great for Teams

One of my favorite WP features is the ability to have multiple user accounts with various levels of access. This makes it easy for teams to work together seamlessly to create content for a website.

It’s an Amazing Blogging Platform

Planning on starting a blog? WordPress has a great built-in blogging platform right out of the box. But WP is easy to customize with themes and plugins, so it doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.

Even better, WP has great built in SEO that will help Google find you quickly. Plus, you can add a plugin like Yoast SEO to give yourself an extra boost.

Many cities also have WordPress meetups and WordCamp, a one day conference all about WP. I was lucky enough to attend the St. Louis WordCamp recently and it was fun to see so many people passionate about WP and others excited to learn!

So, if you are thinking about taking the leap and moving to WordPress – just do it! Plus, if it’s good enough for Beyoncé, it’s good enough for me!
